Iustitia's first internal debate on 'Public funding of NGOs' held
Last Saturday, July 2nd 2011, the first of hopefully many debates between members of the Iustitia Association was held. The members addressed one of the crucial topics for regular operation of the association – NGO funding using public resources. In an exhaustive four-hour debate, the members also exchanged views and opinions on the cooperation with the “Law Centre of Primorje” from Koper, Slovenia on the upcoming 'Join the EU' project, and suggested topics for future, similar debates.
Answering the question 'As an association, do we need to use the money from public resources or not, and why?’ members sought to find general principles, consistent with the Statute and the Program Charter of Iustitia, applicable to the funding of the entire NGO sector.
The Road to Serfdom - F.A. Hayek
The Road to Serfdom is a book written by the Austrian-born economist, philosopher and Nobel laureate Friedrich Hayek between 1940 and 1943. In his book, the author criticizes collectivism and warns of the danger of tyranny that inevitably results from government control of economic decision-making through central planning, arguing that the abandonment of individualism, liberalism and freedom gradually leads to totalitarian oppression and serfdom of the individual. Significantly, Hayek then challenged the general view among British academics that fascism was a capitalist reaction against socialism, instead taking a stance that both systems have common roots in central economic planning and the power of the state over the individual.
Here you can find an illustrated version focusing on main points of the book, published in Look magazine in the early 1950s.
